WFD Responds to Fire at 161 Brown Street

Crews Quickly Contain Blaze at 2.5-Story Multi-Family Home

The Waltham Fire Department responded to 161 Brown Street Monday morning for a report of an inside fire.  The Deputy Chief (C2), Engine 1, Squad 5, Ladder 2 and Rescue 6 all responded to the initial alarm.  Crews arrived on scene at 8:23 am and found light smoke showing.  WFD crews conducted interior primary searches of the building and Deputy Chief Mike Quinn (the Incident Commander) declared a working fire at 8:27 am.  Engine 2 then responded as the Rapid Intervention Team and American Medical Response Medic 2 was dedicated to the scene.  Deputy Mullin (C4) responded as the Safety Chief and Chief Ciccone also responded to the fire.

Command reported heavy fire knocked down at 8:44 am.  The fire was contained to the kitchen of the first floor unit.  Crews continued with overhaul operations and checking for fire extension.
