Waltham Fire Puts Out Early Sunday Morning Dumpster Fire and Evening Car Fire

The Waltham Fire Department responded to an early morning dumpster fire at 591 Moody Street – Tedeschi Food Mart/Lil Peach this Sunday, March 11, 2012.  Waltham Fire’s Engine 1 and Ladder 2 responded at 1:30 am and found a fully-involved dumpster on the side of the building.  The crew from Engine 1 used a 1 ¾” line to knock down the heavy fire while Ladder 2 performed overhaul.  Engine 1 then extinguished all remaining hot spots.  Companies cleared the scene at 1:55 am.

Later that evening, WFD responded to BJ’s Wholesale at 66 Seyon Street for a report of a vehicle fire.  Waltham Fire’s Engine 3, Ladder 2 and C-2 all responded.  On arrival at 6:44 pm, Engine 3 found a Toyota 4-Runner with the engine compartment fully-involved with fire.  Engine 3 and Ladder 2 crews extinguished the fire and used power tools to gain full access to the engine compartment.  Engine 3 stood by for the vehicle to be towed.  Companies cleared by 7:28 pm.
