Put invasive Plants in the Trash!

Put invasive Plants in the Trash!

Some plants, the so called invasive plants, can take over your garden and displace local plants. One of the most common invasive plants in Waltham is the BLACK SWALLOW-WORT. Local communities are trying hard to prevent a further spread of invasive plants, and the preservation of native plant species. If you have Black Swallow Wort in your garden, dig it up or put the pods in the trash. DO NOT put parts of the plant or the seed pods in the yard waste or your compost. DO put the plants in a sealed plastic bag and in the trash. For more information and pictures of the Black Swallow–Wort, see here: http://www.city.waltham.ma.us/recycling-department/bsw-flyer. To see disposal options for other invasive plants, see "Invasive Plants" in our Disposal Index here: http://www.city.waltham.ma.us/recycling-department/pages/disposal-index-recycling-trash
