Waltham Clerks Office received Gold Medal Award for their efforts in bringing Early Voting to Waltham this year!

Yesterday, Waltham City Clerk Russ Malone accepted a Gold Medal Award on behalf of the Waltham City Clerk’s Office, with regard to their efforts to bring early voting to Waltham this year! (see photos below)
For the first time ever, registered voters in Massachusetts will be able to cast their votes early, BEFORE election day on November 8th. The Massachusetts Election Modernization Coalition honored 201 of the state’s 351 municipalities with Gold and Silver Medals for offering voters substantial early voting options. Early voting promises to shorten long lines at busy polling places, improve the voting experience, and give Massachusetts citizens more opportunities to participate in democracy. Early voting will begin on October 24th and continues through November 4th in Waltham, and unlike absentee voting, early voting is for every registered voter. You do not need an excuse or reason to vote early. For more information and a copy of the early voting schedule, see here: http://bit.ly/WalthamEarlyVoting
“Today we celebrate the cities and towns that have embraced early voting. We believe that voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and the fundamental right upon which all our civil liberties rest. By increasing access to the polls through early voting, we ensure that as many citizens as possible have a voice in the preservation and growth of our democracy.” - Rahsaan Hall, Director of the Racial Justice Program at the ACLU of MA
