Information for Waltham Tenants -- Know Your Rights & Take Action to Prevent Eviction!

The MA State Eviction Moratorium ends October 17.   
The current Massachusetts eviction moratorium will expire on October 17, 2020 and the Federal Eviction Moratorium will be effective in Massachusetts from October 17 to December 31, 2020. 

What should you do?    
If you owe rent, pay what you can, and communicate with your landlord.  In order to be protected under the federal eviction moratorium, you must sign a Declaration From. Please read the form carefully.  If the form applies to you, sign it, and give it to your landlord - in person or by taking a picture and sending by text/ email.  If you deliver it in person, take a picture of the completed form for your records.

Getting help with Rent:
By signing the Declaration, you are stating that you have applied for “all available rental assistance.”  You can apply for state rental assistance at www.metrohousingboston.org

These forms are  available online at www.watchcdc.org and at the Waltham Public Library (entrance by the parking lot), Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 4 pm, and at the WATCH office at 24 Crescent Street, Suite 201, (next to our front door entrance on Crescent Street) Monday – Friday 9am to 7:30pm.

La Moratoria de Desalojo del Estado de Massachusetts finaliza el 17 de octubre.
La actual moratoria de desalojo de Massachusetts vencerá el 17 de octubre de 2020 y la moratoria de desalojo federal entrará en vigencia en Massachusetts del 17 de octubre al 31 de diciembre de 2020.

¿Qué deberías hacer? 
Si debe alquiler, pague lo que pueda y comuníquese con el propietario. 

Para estar protegido bajo la moratoria federal de desalojo, debe firmar una Declaración. Lea atentamente la Declaración. Si es su caso, firme y entréguela al propietario, ya sea en persona o tomando una foto y 

enviándola por mensaje de texto y/o correo electrónico. Si la entrega en persona, tome una fotografía de la Declaración completa para que le quede como prueba.

Obtener ayuda con el alquiler:
Al firmar la Declaración, usted declara que ha solicitado “toda la asistencia disponible para el alquiler.”  

Puede solicitar asistencia estatal para el alquiler en www.metrohousingboston.org

¿Necesita una Declaración? 
Copias de esta Declaracion están disponibles en línea en www.watchcdc.org y/o en la Biblioteca Pública de Waltham (entrada por el estacionamiento), de lunes a viernes, de 8:30 am a 4 pm; en WATCH CDC
