Building Department

Roofing, Insulation, & Replacement Windows may be submitted in-person, through US Mail, or via email to: bldpermits@city.waltham.ma.us 

Documents must be submitted in PDF format. Please remember when submitting through US mail - all required documents and check are to be included and mailed with the application. Permit fees are generated by taking the total cost (estimated cost) and multiplying the total cost of construction X .012 (residential). Your permits may be mailed to you if you have a Self-Addressed stamped envelope with your permit application. Any questions or problems? *All building permit applications submitted after July 1, 2025, must comply with the 10th Edition of State of Massachusetts Building Code. (See also: MA State Building Code)

Building Permit Application Requirements:

• Applications must be submitted with all signatures
• Property Owners must sign the application
• Building Permits are not accepted by mail (Only acceptable for Roofing, Insulation, & Replacement Window permits)
• The Building Department requires that Commercial Building Plans be submitted in Paper Form and in PDF Format (Please make sure all items are identified on the thumb drive)

Fees

• Commercial Permit Fees are $22.00 per Thousand ($1000) - Minimum Fee $100.00
• Residential Permit Fees are $12.00 per Thousand ($1000) - Minimum Fee $50.00
