Engine 20

 

The Auxiliary Department also supports the Waltham Fire Department in other emergencies such as flooding. Engine 20, a 1972 American LaFrance that was the former Waltham Engine 4. Manpower is provided to augment the Waltham Fire Department during other weather related emergencies such as blizzards and hurricanes. The truck also serves as a reserve pumper for the Waltham Fire Department and for training for the auxiliary firefighters.

The truck carries four high capacity gasoline powered water pumps and twelve electric powered submersible water pumps used for pumping residential basements during major flooding conditions. This truck has the highest portable pumping capacity in the City of Waltham. The other Auxiliary units support Engine 20, during major flooding incidents
