Since Nov 10th, the City of Waltham has experienced a total of 10 unprovoked, random assaults at various locations in our city. Residents should remain aware of their surroundings, especially when out after dark

The person responsible for these crimes appears to be lying in wait and attacking victims by surprise. The earliest attack occurred at 5:30pm and the latest being at 11:30pm. Initially these attacks occurred within Garden Crest apartment complex in our city, but recent attacks have now been reported in the downtown areas of Chestnut & Charles Streets.

Residents should remain aware of their surroundings, especially when out after dark. The WPD are using all means necessary to bring these cases to an end as quickly as possible. We have increased downtown patrols of officers in uniform & plain clothes, both on foot & in cars.
