An update from Eversource to customers

we want to update you on some of the steps we’ve taken at Eversource to protect our employees who continue working every day to serve the public.

Under our COVID-19 pandemic plan, we’re working proactively to safeguard the health of our employees while maintaining reliable service for our customers. While many employees continue to work from home, a large majority of our work requires employees to be in the field in order to reliably deliver our essential energy services.

Over the last month, we’ve put several measures in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard the health of our employees to ensure that they can continue to serve our customers. Many of these measures focus on social distancing, hygiene and enhanced sanitation, such as:

  • Maintaining separation for employees who do have to come into an Eversource facility by modifying work stations to maintain social distancing
  • Keeping a minimum of six-feet distances for all in-person interactions
  • Providing work assignments outside of work centers instead of inside and reducing the exchange of papers as part of a modified job-briefing process
  • Limiting one employee to a vehicle at a time, and allowing the use of personal vehicles where appropriate
  • Providing face coverings and other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to all field employees
  • Implementing additional safeguards for our employees who must enter customers’ homes to perform essential and/or emergency work
  • Wiping down and cleaning vehicles as often as possible
  • Providing our employees with updated guidance and ongoing communications on personal hygiene, vehicle sanitation, and proper techniques to clean clothes and PPE
  • Requiring our contractors to implement similar social distancing and enhanced sanitation safeguards

To help support those efforts, we ask that you please reinforce with your constituents to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet from our field employees so that everyone stays safe as we continue essential work to ensure reliability.

With the estimated peak of COVID-19 cases in New England approaching in the coming weeks, our continued vigilance around personal and public safety measures remains paramount. And as the pandemic continues to evolve, be assured that Eversource will continue to follow best practices and adopt sound protective measures while also performing essential tasks to ensure that all our customers have a safe and reliable energy system.
