Media Contacts
The shift commander is the on-duty Deputy Chief and is the only person regularly authorized, other than the Chief of Department, to handle media inquiries. The Deputy Chief works out of the Moody Street Station.

The Chief or Deputy will usually be on scene at a major incident and may conduct interviews or press conferences at that location.

The Waltham Fire Department aims to work with the media on timely release of information regarding availability for such interviews or press conferences. On scene, the Chief and Deputy will usually stand out wearing white helmets and white turnout coats. These leaders can also be identified by the gold insignias on their collars.

Lt. Scott Perry in the Fire Prevention Office also often fills the role of Public Information Officer in the Incident Command System per order of the Chief or Deputy Chief and assists with media inquiries.  He can be reached at 781-314-3710.
