Waltham Community Electricity Program

Waltham Community Electricity is a program organized by the City of Waltham to provide residents and businesses with competitively selected electricity supply options. Waltham's Plan is similar to other Municipal Aggregation Programs run by cities and towns throughout Massachusetts where communities aggregate the electric load of customers within their borders to procure a competitive supply of electricity. Eversource continues to deliver electricity, repair power outages, and maintain the electricity grid; they also send residents and businesses monthly electricity bills. From 2021 to 2023, Waltham Community Electricity has cumulatively saved participants over $22M on electricity supply costs and cumulatively purchased over 36 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable energy.

City-wide, the Program has had a major environmental impact, purchasing 11,600 MWh annually of local renewable energy, which avoids over 8.3 million pounds of carbon pollution each year.
