Can I still call 9-1-1 if I am not able to speak?
A. Yes, you can!
If you are unable to verbally respond to the dispatcher’s questions, you can press 1 for Police, 2 for Fire or 3 for an ambulance. You can press 4 to answer “yes” or 5 to answer “no”.
If you communicate with a Teletypewriter (TTY) or you are having an emergency that prevents you from speaking, you can still call 9-1-1.
We are TTY capable and it can be initiated by you or by us using our silent call procedure.
