Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant

Federal Grant Award

The Waltham Police Department has been awarded a $10,843.00 from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG).   The primary goal of the this grant is to create a citizen survey so as to gain knowledge of how Waltham residents perceive crime, disorder, police, and other issues throughout the City of Waltham.

We will also be using a portion of this funding to increase officers foot patrols in the downtown area.  Foot patrols will help free officers from patrol vehicles so as to give more face to face contact with residents of Waltham.  This department will be posting the survey on our web page.

This Grant award has been forwarded to the Mayor’s office and will go before the city council for final approval to accept these funds on September 12th 2017.  If Citizens and residents of Waltham have questions or concerns feel free to contact the grant manager” Sgt. William Gallant @ 781-314-3524 or email @ wgallant@police.waltham.ma.us

As with all grants that are awarded this department citizens and residents may also be present for public hearings and or contact their local representatives with questions or concerns.
