Public Housing Programs

Affordable public housing is available for low-income families, elderly, and disabled people in more than 230 towns in Massachusetts. You can also find resident and assisted living services.

Public housing includes large apartment complexes, single and multi-family homes, and more. The units are owned by Local Housing Authorities (LHAs), which manage public housing programs throughout Massachusetts. You can apply for your own apartment at any LHA through an online application. For or a shared living space (congregate housing), contact an LHA.

Important: This page is about state-funded public housing programs. For information about federal programs, visit the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's website.
