Rental Assistance for low income Waltham households:  RAFT (Residential Assistance for Families in Transition)

Funded by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). RAFT provides short-term financial assistance to low-income families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The RAFT programs helps families who are behind on their rent, mortgage payments, heating, or utility bills. RAFT will also assist families who have to move but do not have enough money to pay some of the costs involved, such as utility startup costs, a security deposit, or first/last month’s rent.

RAFT offers flexible financial assistance. Eligible uses include:

  • rent and utility arrears
  • rental stipends
  • utility bills
  • moving cost assistance
  • Families cannot get more than $4000 within a 12-month period.
