Save the date & join us for our LAST Minuteman Hazardous Products collection event of the season on Sat, November 3rd!

On Saturday, November 3rd from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Waltham residents can drop off hazardous wasts at the Minuteman Facility at 60 Hartwell Ave, Lexington MA. This event is free of charge, but a proof of residency such as a bill or a license will be required. However, residents are encouraged to make just one trip or collect with neighbors to reduce costs as the city pays $45 per car.

Used yard chemicals such pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides are considered as hazardous because they can cause water pollution if they are disposed of by being poured down the drain. Both the chemicals themselves and their containers should not be put in the trash because the chemicals will be released into the atmosphere and cause air pollution since the municipal trash of Waltham is incinerated. Consequently, the health of the residents would be compromised if the yard chemicals, as well as other hazardous wastes, have not been disposed of properly.

Other hazardous items such as propane tanks (empty or partially empty), oil-based paints, polishes, and pool chemicals are all accepted at the Minuteman facility. However, items such as industrial waste, construction waste, medical waste, latex paints, or explosives should not be brought to the Minuteman facility. The full list of hazardous items accepted at the facility can be found on the Brochure that has been sent out recently. You can also find an electronic version here: https://www.city.waltham.ma.us/sites/g/files/vyhlif12301/f/uploads/2018-...

If the item that you want to dispose of is not listed on the Brochure, you can either check it on the Disposal Index, which can be found here: https://www.city.waltham.ma.us/recycling-department/pages/disposal-index... contact the Waltham Recycling Department at 781-314-3390.
