On Monday night, the Waltham City Council approved the CPC request for funds in the amount of $4,012,000 for the acquisition of

This 5-acre parcel located in Ward 1 abuts Prospect Hill Park and has remained undeveloped and served as an unofficial entrance point to the Prospect Hill Park trails.

This acquisition has been in the works since as far back as 2017, with a goal of preserving and extending the park to the surrounding Ward 1 neighborhood. Per Ward 1 Councillor, Anthony LaFauci, “this is not only a victory for the neighbors and the Ward, but this is a victory for the city”. This parcel will now be protected from development for generations to come, in what he called “the last piece” of Prospect Hill Park.

We thank the Councillor of ward 1, Anthony LaFauci, Mayor McCarthy, Waltham City Council, the Waltham Law Department, Long Term Debt Committee, and all of the Waltham Highlands neighbors for their monumental work in acquiring this parcel.
