On January 27, 2020,Virginia became the 38th state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. If passed, the ERA would guarantee equal rights to all Americans, regardless of gender. It seeks to end legal distinctions between men and women in divorce, property, employment, and other areas. What does the ERA mean to Black women? Join us for a talk by Dr. Mary Phillips of the Lehman College of City University of New York (CUNY). She'll give an overview of the ERA's implications, its impact on Black women in particular, and what Black feminists - and popular culture - are saying about it.
