WFD Stresses Safe Driving to Prom Goers During Extrication Demonstration

WFD Shows Students "Jaws of Life" and Other Tools Commonly Needed to Rescue Victims of Serious Car Accidents

Friday, May 11, 2012

The Waltham Fire Department demonstrated how it uses hydraulic extrication tools (often refered to as the "Jaws of Life") to remove victims in serious car accidents while taking part in Waltham High School's annual prom safety assembly.  The event is designed to remind students of the dangers of driving while under the influence and is presented in coordination with the Waltham Police Department.

The main focus of the assembly is when students get to witness the stagged car accident scene that simulates a two car crash involving four high school students.
