WFD Engine 1 Responds On Mutual Aid to I-95 Tanker Rollover in Woburn

Late Night Gasoline Spill Shut Down I-95 in Both Directions

Waltham Fire Department's Engine 1 responded to Woburn for mutual aid when a tanker truck carrying gasoline overturned on I-95 South near Exit 36 (Washington Street).  The truck was carrying between 8,000 to 10,000 gallons of gasoline and fuel did leak on to the highway according to State Police reports.  Waltham Fire's assistance was requested at 11:56 p.m. Monday night and Engine 1 remained on scene until 3:28 a.m. Tuesday morning.  Fire crews had to evacuate nearby homes and businesses but were able to contain the spill and reopen the highway by 7 a.m.
