The Waltham Fire Department is joining the rest of the country and gearing up for National Fire Prevention Week, which is October 9th – 15th, 2022. You can see a short History of National Fire Prevention Week here. * Note - Due to the Columbus Day Holiday on Monday, October 10th, the city will be participating in National Fire Prevention Week the following week, October 16th-22nd.

During Fire Prevention week, WFD will be sending its S.A.F.E. (Student Awareness of Fire Education) teaching team into all Waltham public and private elementary schools to teach vital fire and life safety lessons to kids in grades K-3. Safety lessons focus on basic fire & safety tips that can be learned by everyone: React to smoke alarms, practice home escape plans, and know where your exits are no matter where you go. Our S.A.F.E. team instructors include: Lt. John Ferrick, F.F. Izzy Torres, F.F. Chuck Vinciulla, and F.F. Melissa McCarthy. The S.A.F.E. team will visit a school each morning and afternoon.

Waltham Fire will also host its annual OPEN HOUSE on Sunday October 23rd, 2022, from 1pm to 3pm at Moody Street Fire Station, 533 Moody St. The event will feature free pizza, beverages, snacks, and tours of the station and apparatus. See a flyer for the event here. We hope to see you there!
