I called for just an ambulance, but you asked me a lot of questions and still also sent the Fire department. Why?

A:

We ask a series of questions to make sure we send the right help to you and make sure our responders know what to expect and how to find you. We may also provide you with instructions on what to do, such as controlling a bleed or performing CPR, before the Paramedics get there.

Depending on the situation and location, the Fire or Police department may be sent to make sure that some help or treatment can be administered before the ambulance arrives.
