The large appliance removal program allows the residents of Waltham to dispose of large appliances (commonly referred to as “white goods”), such as washing machines, clothes dryers, refrigerators, stoves, etc. at no charge. In order to have an appliance removed by the City’s provider, Capitol Waste Services, a Waltham resident must contact Capital Waste at or 617-569-1718 or 866-569-1718 to make an appointment. All appliances will be picked up on your regular recycling and trash day.
The appliance must be put out on the sidewalk on the day of the scheduled appointment, by 7:00 am. Refrigerator doors must be removed, and refrigerators and air conditioners must be kept upright.
Capitol Waste is responsible for Freon (chlorofluorocarbons) removal from refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers and dehumidifiers in compliance with the Clean Air Act. All appliances are then sent to a local scrap metal recycling facility.
