Digital Television revolution...How does the switch affect you?

On February 17, 2009 broadcasters will shut off their analog transmission and switch exclusively to digital transmission.   If you have analog transmission your television screen will go blank and you will not be able to see anything.

This change will NOT affect you IF:

 · You already subscribe to a cable or satellite television provider.

· You already own a television set equipped to receive digital transmissions

· You own a cable box that gets digital transmissions.

This change WILL affect you IF:

 · You receive “over the air” transmission (rabbit ears) and if your TV is more than a few years old.

What are your options if you are affected?

1. Keep your existing analog TV and purchase a TV converter box.  A converter box plugs into your TV and will keep it working after the switch over in February 2009. (See Rebate Information Below)

2. Connect to a cable, satellite or other pay service.

3. Purchase a television with a digital tuner

The National Telecommunications Information Administration is providing up to two coupons per household for a converter box.  Each coupon is worth $40 to any household that may need them.  To find out more information about how to receive your coupon call the NTIA at 1-888-388-2009.
