Job Responsibilities: To provide transportation to and from medical appointments and shopping for senior citizens over the age of sixty (and non-elderly handicapped if space is available). Driver is responsible for the timely and safe transportation of senior citizens. May be required to assist residents in and out of bus/van. Occasionally operates the bus or van in social transportation. Driver will transport non-elderly handicapped if space is available on the vehicle. Responsible for reporting routine maintenance needs to lead driver, and cleaning and upkeep of community bus/van. Must obey all traffic laws. Completes various required forms, including incident/accident reports.
Qualifications: High School graduate or GED. Valid Class A, B or C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required to drive bus. Must be able to work with minimum supervision, planning pick-ups and returns in such a manner to maximumize the use of time. Ability to comminuciate effectively with elders. Ability to obtain a CPR certificate with the City will provide training. One year transporting clients preferred. Must be familiar with street locations in the City of Waltham; must show patience with elders, be dependable and reliable and the the ability to learn proper operations of chair life. Must successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Infromation (CORI), background check and drug and alcohol screeening.
Salary: $18.02 hr. Temporary, On-Call only No benefits
