Job Responsibilities: The purpose of this position is to support and execute the City’s server and desktop system operations and serve as the social media and calendar. Coordinator under the direction and supervision of the Server/Desktop Support Manager.  The roles and duties include overall support and execution of server and desktop operation and development.  This includes, but is not limited the support of, server/desktop operating systems, server/desktop hardware configuration, web page, and department and end user support.  This includes scheduling and maintaining the existing server/desktop operational functions, gathering and responding to non-scheduled work orders and service calls, and supporting and developing new system project plans.  It also requires ongoing interaction with various city employees and other department managers to identify and define the City’s system operational and system training objectives. Installs and maintains server and desktop systems, related components, peripherals, operating systems, configurations, utilities, office automation and other applications; provides support for Microsoft office automation applications. Diagnoses and resolves server and desktop operating and functional issues. Connects server and desktop to the City’s networks, other interoperable devices and peripherals. Coordinates server and desktop installation and maintenance with other IT staff members, departmental supervisors, others responsible for departmental computing, adopted standards, and defined priorities. Coaches users in their utilization of server and desktop systems and applications; helps resolve operational issues as needed; assists with user training. Also provides support to the City’s WEB site. Coordinate and develop content calendars for City. Responsible for developing and maintaining a social medial strategy which involves but not limited to:  1). Analyzing existing media outlets.  2). Developing strategies for blogging, microblogging and social networks.  3). Integrating the three strategies. 4). Identifying and utilizing developing resources. 5). Implementing and maintaining a successful ongoing social media strategy. Serve as social media coordinator which involves communicating day to day with various departments to deliver dynamic communication and information with the public through current trends of electronic media Talks users through the resolution of problems and instructs them in the use of various forms of assistance; tracks help desk incidents according to adopted disciplines. Documents server and desktop and network installations. Participates in development and implementation of the City’s disaster protection and recovery programs. Assists in performing network administrative tasks. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as the situation dictates.  This is a provisional Civil Service position. Full job description available through the Human Resources Dept. Funding certified to June 30, 2017. Additional funding for July, 2017 subject to appropriation in FY2018 budget.

Qualifications: Requires advanced technical training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, micro-computing or a related field; must have more than one year experience working in the maintenance, deployment or similar technical function relative to server and desktop; a working knowledge of the Microsoft DOS, Windows, NT and NT Server operating systems is required; familiarity with SQL server, Exchange, SMS, DNS, Microsoft Office, DHCP, TCP/IP, and Norton Anti-virus is desirable. Must be MCP and MCSE and A+ certified within three years of original appointment; digital or communication experience.  Must successfully pass a Criminal Offenders Record Information (CORI), background check, and pre-employment physical with drug & alcohol test.

Rate of pay:  $63,267 yr Excellent benefits
