 Smokefree Communities Project 

Serving the communities of Brookline, Milton, Newton, Waltham, and Wellesley

    The SmokeFree Communities Project (SFCP) is a tobacco control collaborative comprised of five cities and towns, which work cooperatively, to accomplish the objectives of the five independent communities, as well as those of the Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program (MTCP).  The Program combines the diverse strengths and experiences of it's project managers to accomplish these goals.  Some of the objectives of the SmokeFree Communities Project are as follows:

media promotion of tobacco control issues and events

bullet

enactment and implementation of tobacco control regulations; strengthening of existing regulations

bullet

youth access and secondhand smoke compliance checks

bullet

educational presentations  

bullet

community outreach

bullet

outreach to disparate populations on tobacco related issues

bullet

providing cessation resources to smokers and their loved ones

bullet

support and guidance to local schools and colleges in the  development/implementation of campus tobacco policies

bullet

respond to complaints regarding non-compliance of existing regulations

        The SmokeFree Communities Project receives its funding through a grant from the Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program (MTCP).   The Smokefree Communities Project renews its budget annually with MTCP and creates a Program Workplan which describes the objectives of the program for each fiscal year.  The budget and Workplan are both submitted yearly to MTCP for review and approval.
