Grade 4 Creates Electronic Language Portfolios - Mrs. Burke, Mrs. Morris, Miss Cocconi and Mrs. Gardner

In addition to a written Language Arts portfolio, students in Grade 4 at the Fitch Elementary School are also making use of technology and Spanish skills to present their accomplishments in a HyperStudio-based electronic portfolio.

The students, over the course of the school year, select and incorporate original English and Spanish writings, augmented with their original art or digital photographs, within their personal electronic portfolios.  They also record some of their favorite English and Spanish poems and songs.  The creation of these portfolios is in line with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, especially Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for English Language Arts - Media Strand, Learning Standard 28 (which states that, "Students will design and create coherent media productions with a clear controlling idea, adequate detail, and appropriate consideration of audience, purpose, and medium.") and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for World Languages - Connecting Strand, Learning Standard 20 (which states that, "Through conversing, reading, writing, listening, viewing, and presenting, students will use a world language to connect with other disciplines such as Arts, English Language Arts, Technology, etc." )

Below are some examples of the kinds of work students put into their portfolio.
