WFD Crews Fight Fire in Recycling Truck at 680 Lexington Street

Waltham Fire responded Tuesday morning to a report of a recycling truck on fire just before 8 am.  The original call was for 78 Fourth Avenue - which resulted in a response of Engine 2, Ladder 1 and C2.  The recycling truck had left the scene prior to our units arrival and its driver had reportedly extinguished the fire.

Soon after, our WFD units were dispatched to the same recycling truck on fire now at 680 Lexington Street.  This resulted in Engine 7 and Ladder 1 responding along with C2.  The Deputy arrived on scene at 8:15 am and found smoke showing - fire in the back of the recycling truck and the driver safely evacuated.  Engine 8 was then added for water supply.  Crews used two lines to bring the fire under control.  Damage was limited to the contents inside the back of the recycling truck.
