IDDE Program Update

Illicit Discharge Detection & Elimination Program
-A A +A

The City’s Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) program continues with a new phase of investigation, locating illicit connections to the storm drain system.  Crews have completed investigations at 7 locations throughout the City with television cameras that can be remotely controlled to inspect inside sewer and drain pipelines.  A second round of inspections will be conducted in 3 locations in May 2015.  The first planned corrections include removing simple direct connections between the sewer and the storm drain.  Other, more complicated, projects will follow this summer to separate storm drains and sewers, fix manholes, and seal other leaks that contaminate the storm drain system.

The City’s consultants Environmental Partners Group will also be sampling critical junctions in the storm drains in the Masters Brook watershed to evaluate the water quality.
