adoption
policy
Think
before you adopt…Are you prepared for the responsibility of owning
a pet? It is a
24-hour, 365 days commitment, lasting for the animal’s lifetime.
Do
not adopt an animal on impulse or emotion…This is a very serious
and costly decision for you and the animal. We at the shelter firmly believe that given the adequate
attention, love, time and training, all animals can be a pleasure to
own, and A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER ACQUIRES A PET WITH THE INTENTION
OF KEEPING IT AS PART OF THEIR FAMILY FOR ITS NATURAL LIFETIME.
- We
try to place ONLY healthy and good disposition animals.
- We
REQUIRE
- Spaying
of all female pets and neutering of all males
- Strict
adherence to all laws and ordinances
- All
dogs be licensed in their Cities/Towns within 10 days
- That
the animals be adopted by persons at least 18 years old
- Persons
adopting must have proof of present address
- That
persons adopting have the knowledge and consent of all adults
living in your household
- That
the person adopting be able and willing to spend the time and
money necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and
proper care for pet
- That
persons have cash to pay fees of up to $40.00 for a pet.
If you plan to pay by check, we require that a valid
Massachusetts Drivers License be used as proper identification
- That
the persons adopting understand that not all animals are
available for adoption, due to age, temperament, illness or
other reasons
- That
the persons adopting have the knowledge and consent of your
landlord
WE
DO NOT RELEASE ANY ANIMALS FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES
WE
RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ADOPTION OF ANIMALS TO ANYONE
